Unfortunately, we can only expect but so much from our beloved Times-Dispatch...At least they took the time to do a story on downtown development instead of a sequel to the front page story from a while back called "When Doodie Calls" (something about dogs being cleaned up after at a park or something???)

Heck, instead of wasting the space and time on this story, the TD could have just directed readers to UrbanPlanet's Richmond section or RichmondCityWatch or this blog or Venture Richmond's website or etc etc etc.

I noticed that shot of the lot downtown as well.

If you don't know what eandslee is talking about, one of the first pics in the TD slideshow is of a parking lot downtown that's rumored to be considered for development of a new highrise. Here's my post about it from March 8th: http://richmondva.wordpress.com/2007/03/08/new-downtown-highrise/

I'm also with you, eandslee about the oddity of the TD's selection. Besides considering Rocketts downtown, they overlooked some projects, and didn't bother to explain their selection criteria. At least they're highlighting some good stuff happening around the metro region.

The RTD is lost in "la-la land" if it thinks that these are the only developments going on downtown! Anyway, I also thought it was interesting that the slideshow included a photo of the "triangle" lot downtown considering that no public announcement has been made of its development (we just know of it because we usually get the "inside scoop" before much of the public sometimes). Interesting.... I hope something comes out soon about that lot's development!
