Cars are a waste of space - I agree, but we, as a people, are never going to give up our love affair for the car until 1) it no longer becomes feasible to drive our cars (ie gas prices go up to $10 a gallon, and even then who knows) and /or 2) a good public transportation system in place to use when cars can no longer be feasibly used. Right now Richmond is lightyears away from any really good public transportation system, something I would like to see changed. A good light rail transit system would be a good start, but no one thinks it will work because of the cost involved to build and operate one verses the return they will get from ridership.

That's a great photo. I love the current trend in showing relative size/price/consumption quantities via comparative photography. I've particularly enjoyed the "<a href="http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,1626519,00.html" rel="nofollow">how much the world eats</a>"-type photo essays.
